I was talking to a friend the other day who isn’t as consumed with “all things Web-related” as I am and she made an interesting comment: “Maybe a lot of people have no idea what web hosting is?” The thought never occurred to me. Sometimes my mind doesn’t think like non-techies and for this I am sorry. So, here’s a brief explanation of what web hosting is and why you need it.

CMS is short for  “Content Management System.”  I often explain to clients that it is like an engine that powers your website.  You plug in the content (such as text and images) and the CMS delivers the content to your users according to your specifications. A CMS provides a graphical interface that allows you to specify preferences, make configurations, and create content. You can do all of this without the need to learn HTML, CSS, or any programming language!
